Universal Frequencies is a sonic ritual that uses sacred geometry, light sequencing and sonic frequencies to induce a meditative experience. It includes a custom built, electro-acoustic instrument that connects 3 simple vintage keyboards to a circuit translating their frequencies into voltage to control the intensity of the lights. These LED light strips are hung on a large cube that the artist sits inside while she plays long drone harmonies on the 3 keyboards. This ritual has a basic structure but is customized for each presentation based on the date, location and current cultural and celestial events. It was originally developed in residency at RAT Residencia Artistica and Centro Multi-Media (CENART) in Mexico City for presentation at Centro Mexicano para la Musica y las Artes Sonoras (CMMAS, Morelia) in 2017. This video documents performances in the artist’s studio and at the Encuentro Internacional de Arte Sonoro at Academia San Carlos in Mexico City.
