Shakti Swaroop
ShaktiSwaroop, meaning “the embodiment of Shakti,” was a live sound healing ritual presented at the Nada Yoga School, on the banks of the Ganges River in Rishikesh. With the illuminated Ram Jhula bridge shimmering in the background, drawing from the sonic lineages of mantra and the energetic architecture of the chakras, the performance wove together voice, harmonium, audience participation, and gong. The performance explored the voice as a medium of energetic and spatial transformation, weaving together seven mantras corresponding to the chakras and goddess archetypes. Accompanied by harmonium and framed by communal “Om” chanting and a closing gong bath, the work engaged sound as both a somatic and devotional practice.
